We are excited to welcome artists Megan Roberts & Reymond Ghirardo the Ranch for the month of February!
Roberts and Ghirardo have been collaborators on video, sound sculpture, installation and performance works since the 1970s. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area they currently reside in Upstate New York. Roberts received her M.F.A. in Electronic Music and Video from Mills College Center for Contemporary Music and Ghirardo received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Primarily working in large-scale installation incorporating sculptural construction, sound, video and other elements, their work has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally. Evolving from studies of natural and unnatural landscapes that compel, attract and often lend to anthropomorphic and geological exaggeration, the works evoke imaginary terrains and invented archeological sites.
Their current work is a suite of smaller video sculptures using cast body fragments, eggshells and micro-projectors that are thematically connected through reflection, transparency and impermanence.
